Wings boss Warren Feeney says his side will be heading to Eastbourne Borough on Tuesday evening in confident mood as he prepares for his side to take on another side in good form.
Danny Bloor’s side go into the game unbeaten in three with two wins and a draw, but Feeney insists that Welling will still have their tails up following the 5-0 victory over Oxford City last time out, despite the recent disruption to the weekend’s fixtures after the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.
“It’s the joys of football, you never know what’s round the corner, but you have to go on,” he explained ahead of the midweek test.
“It was sad news to hear of the passing of Her Majesty, although I wasn’t sure it was the right call to call games off, but we’re well prepared and we move on to the next one.”
“It’s another very tough test,” continued Feeney.
“Danny [Bloor] is a good guy and I have a lot of respect for him. He’s done a great job down there with some good players and they’re in good form.
“It’s always a tough place to go, so we have to go down there, be on our game and be confident. Whatever challenge we face, we have to overcome it.
“You go into every game with the respect for the opposition – you know their strengths and weaknesses – but you have to go with confidence in yourselves. We’re in good form, but we won’t get carried away.
“We’ve got play to our strengths and that is something that we always do, so it should be a good game for the neutral.”
Meanwhile, Feeney provided an injury update to hat-trick hero Ade Azeez after the striker was forced off following his goalscoring exploits in the 5-0 win over Oxford.
“Ade is struggling with the groin strain he picked up against Oxford.
“He’s very, very doubtful to be involved on Tuesday.”
