Welling United are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Devonte Aransibia.
Wings boss Warren Feeney has bolstered his squad with the arrival of the 23-year old former Norwich City youngster who can play in both central and wide midfield positions and joins the club from fellow Vanarama National League South outfit Chelmsford City.
Aransibia caught the eye in Chelmsford’s 2-1 victory at Park View Road in August and Feeney was keen to bring him to DA16 to strengthen his midfield options.
“Devonte is another player who I think can better us,” explained Feeney.
“He’s someone that can play out wide and come inside and it’s difficult to find those sorts of players in his position.
“I’m looking to bring players that are better than we’ve got and he’s one that can benefit with us and make us stronger as a squad. It’s still early doors and he needs to get up to the fitness levels of where we are, but he’ll be a good signing for us.
“Football is a selfish game,” he added.
“Chelmsford is a good club, but we’re showing that we can compete and attract players from other clubs, so we’re really pleased he’s signed.”
Aransibia began his career as a youngster at Norwich, joining at the age of 17 before being rewarded with a professional contract in 2017. Whilst with the Canaries’ academy, he embarked on a loan spell with Billericay Town before his eventual release from Carrow Road in 2021, joining Potters Bar Town prior to a move to Royston Town earlier this year.
Having impressed in the Southern League, his performances prompted Chelmsford to snap him up this summer, scoring on his debut against St Albans City on opening day, and he now arrives at Park View Road as part of Welling’s new-look side.
Aransibia made his Wings debut in the FA Cup replay victory over Fisher last week and came off the bench to make his league debut in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Havant & Waterlooville.
