Welling United turn their attentions to cup action on Tuesday evening as they make the short journey to the Artic Stadium to take on Cray Valley Paper Mills in the first round of the London Senior Cup (7.45pm).
Wings U23 boss Reece Parara is set to take the side for the cup tie against the Millers with Welling expected to utilise their promising academy youngsters alongside a mixture of first-teamers in search of vital minutes.
The winners of the cup clash will proceed to take on Charlton Athletic U21s in the second round of the competition.
THE OPPOSITION
Cray Valley PM ply their trade in the Isthmian League South East Division – step four of the non-league pyramid.
They currently occupy 14th place with two wins, three draws and three defeats from their eight league games, so far, and come into the game off the back of two straight losses.
CUP HISTORY
The Wings have lifted the trophy on two separate occasions – the first in 1990 and the second in 2019, while Cray Valley claimed the silverware in 2017 when they became the lowest-ranked side to win the competition as a step five side at the time.
Tuesday’s tie will be the third time the two sides have met in competitive action with the previous two games both coming in the London Senior Cup with the Millers winning on both occasions – a 5-4 win in 2013 and a 3-1 win in 2017, both at Park View Road.
