Welling United are delighted to welcome defender Sid Nelson from Woking on a one-month loan.
The 26-year old centre-back boosts the Wings’ defensive options with the initial loan set to run until November 14th.
Nelson arrives at Park View Road with a wealth of EFL experience having emerged through Millwall’s academy, making his debut in the Championship before going on to make 38 senior appearances for the Lions.
Speaking of the latest addition to the squad, Wings boss Warren Feeney said: “It’s a great signing for us. His agent is Kevin Nicholls, my ex-captain, and he knows that I tried to sign him on a few occasions.
“He’s a local boy, he’s a winner and a leader. He won’t shy away from anything and he’s a great addition to the squad.
“I want to thank Darren Sarll at Woking for letting it happen – I’m really pleased we’ve got it over the line because he provides great competition for the squad going forwards.”
Nelson’s Football League experience extended to loan spells with Newport County, Yeovil Town, Chesterfield, Swindon Town and Tranmere Rovers before making the move to Prenton Park permanent in 2019.
Having made 49 appearances in all competitions for Rovers, he made the move to Northampton Town in the summer of 2021/22, but suffered an injury set-back which led him to join Woking in the National League in July.
He becomes the Wings’ second new addition this week following the arrival of Iraq international Yaser Kasim.
