Welling United are delighted to confirm that Sadik Balarabe has agreed to a new deal which will keep him at Park View Road for the 2023/24 season.

The rapid winger caught the eye after arriving at the club in March following an impressive trial period after a spell in the USA, scoring on his debut in the Kent Senior Cup victory at Ebbsfleet United.

Despite an injury disrupting his run-in, the 30-year old made five league appearances at the back end of last season and is hungry to go into the new campaign with a full pre-season behind him.

“The conversations I’ve had have given me a lot of positive energy for the next season,” he said.

“I’m so sure that, with a good pre-season, I’ll be back to 100% and I can push on for the team. That’s my goal.”

“We showed at the end of the season, just like at the start, how well we can do and that sets us up nicely to go into next season.

“If we can all get on the same page as the fans and really connect, what we can achieve is unlimited.”

Meanwhile, Eltham-born Balarabe is eager to prove himself “at home” after a successful career abroad, and he believes that his local club is the perfect place to do so.

“I’m all about challenges,” he explained.

“What this is, for me, is a new challenge to succeed at home. I have a proven record abroad, I’ve scored goals and won trophies, but I haven’t done that on home soil.

“When you have a challenge and set yourself goals, it always allows you yo do better. I just want to achieve a lot more at home and where better place to do it than with my local team, Welling United.”

Early-bird season tickets for the 2023/24 campaign are now on sale with prices frozen until June 5th ahead of the new season as the club celebrates its 60th anniversary.
