Welling United are delighted to welcome Danny Bloor as the Wings’ new first-team Manager. 

The 53-year-old arrives at Park View Road with a wealth of experience having spent the last three-and-a-half years with fellow Vanarama National League South outfit Eastbourne Borough, leading them to safety in his first half-season in charge in 2020, before securing third, sixth and eighth-place finishes in the seasons that followed before his departure last week.

Following a recruitment process which saw a number of candidates interviewed, Bloor was the stand-out and he now becomes the Wings’ boss to lead the club into the 2023/24 campaign. 

Speaking after putting pen to paper, Bloor said: “I’m absolutely delighted.  I’m delighted to be here and I’m already looking forward to that first pre-season friendly. 

“The thing I can emphasise is that players have to run, they have to work, they have to be proud to wear the shirt and that won’t be any different here at Welling United.

“I want the people of Welling to come and get behind us. I can’t guarantee we’ll win every game, that’s a fact in football, but I can guarantee they will have a side that will work hard and give everything for the cause.”

Prior to being in the hot seat at Eastbourne, Bloor spent time as Assistant Manager at Priory Lane. 

His earlier career saw him manage Worthing between 2007-2011, before taking over Eastbourne Town for two years until 2013. 

A spell as assistant boss at Lewes followed, before he joined Eastbourne Borough. 

Bloor’s management team is set to be finalised in the coming days and will be confirmed in due course. 

Meanwhile, early-bird season tickets for the 2023/24 campaign are now on sale with prices frozen until June 16th ahead of the new season as the club celebrates its 60th anniversary.
