Wings boss Danny Bloor is counting down the days to the opening day of the season as he continues his preparations ahead of Saturday’s friendly clash with Woking.
Bloor has relished the challenge of building his team after being appointed to the hot seat at Park View Road earlier this summer and sees this weekend’s meeting with the Cards as another opportunity to take a step forwards in readying his players for the challenge ahead.
“I’m not too worried about pre-season results, as I’ve said before,” explained Bloor.
“It’ll be another tough game on Saturday but it’s all about that countdown to Truro. We have 14 days to go until the start of the season and I can’t wait for it.
“Woking will be doing very well this season and are expected to be around it, so it will be another good test for us.
“We’re positive, we love the job we do and we’re enjoying it. We’re getting great support and it’s still early days. My coaching staff and everyone behind the scenes are working really hard.
“Everything is new, the ethos of the club is changing so it’s all great fun.”
Welling have carefully managed the minutes of their players in the three games, so far, this summer, gradually stepping up the fitness levels and that’s something that will continue on Saturday as they approach full fitness, while building on the style of play that was beginning to be implemented in midweek.
“We’ll be trying to manage minutes again with some players getting more minutes under their belt,” said Bloor.
“We’ve got a few little injuries in the camp as well, so we’ll have to assess that situation as well.
“We’re looking forward to it. There were some real positives in that first-half display on Tuesday, but we need to get ourselves right. We can see signs of where we’re going.”
