Welling United’s development squad will prepare for their new season with some upcoming friendly fixtures against Sporting Club Thamesmead, Erith Town and Erith & Belvedere U23s.

The Wings’ U23 side enjoyed a hugely-successful inaugural campaign in 2022/23, with a second-place finish in Suburban Football League Premier Division, coming within touching distance of clinching the league title and losing just two games all season.

Welling’s youngsters have already kicked off their summer programme with a 3-2 victory over Holmesdale’s first team on June 24th, before sharing a 2-2 draw with Rusthall’s first team on July 11th and will continue their preparations with three more friendly outings.

The academy side will face Sporting Club Thamesmead, taking on their first team on Saturday, July 15th at Mascall’s Academy before facing Erith Town’s first team at Bayliss Avenue on Friday, July 21st.

They will then round off their friendly fixtures with a clash against Erith & Belvedere’s U23s on Sunday, July 30th.
