Welling United are pleased to confirm Mark Dorado as the club’s Head of Recruitment.
55-year-old Dorado began his career as a scout The New Saints in 2010, supporting the Welsh top-flight club with recruitment for five years during the most successful spell of the club’s history.
Since then, he has worked for a variety of clubs at senior level, as well as scouting experience at youth and academy level for the likes of Norwich City, Burnley and West Ham United.
Most recently, Dorado worked as Chief Scout for Billericay Town, tasked with rebuilding and stabilising following relegation in 2022.
“I am absolutely delighted to be appointed and genuinely thrilled to be working for such a fantastic club,” explained Dorado.
“It’s been brilliant, so far. Everyone on the same page, all pulling in the same direction from top to bottom and Danny [Bloor] has been different class.
“His record speaks for itself and goes without saying. Working with Dan Brown last season, I learnt so much, we had a brilliant relationship which always makes things easier and my good fortune continues with this appointment because Danny is just quality in every respect.
“I’ve followed Welling closely over recent years. Although the last couple of seasons have been disappointing, sometimes in life you have to take a step backwards to go forward, learn from those experiences, then reboot with a different mindset and approach.
“In my short time at the club I’ve felt the growing positivity, theres a really good feeling around the club and having watched the lads training over the last couple of weeks, thats been very apparent with some superb stuff on the training ground.
“Dannys been working his magic since his appointment and already made some quality signings, but theres more to come as we work together to build a squad to do the brilliant Welling fans proud.
“It’s exciting and I really think this is the start of something great for the club. I feel privileged to be a part of it, am so grateful for the opportunity and just cant wait for the season to start.”
