Welling United’s pre-season preparations takes another step forward when they welcome Woking to Park View Road on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
The friendly clash gives boss Danny Bloor another opportunity to fine-tune his squad ahead of the season’s big kick-off in two weeks time and, after an impressive first-half showing against Dulwich Hamlet on Tuesday evening, he likely to step up the number of minutes for some of his players as they look to reach their first full 90 of the summer.
Woking enjoyed a successful campaign in 2022/23, finishing fourth in the National League, but fell to Bromley in the play-off eliminators.
The Cards have played two pre-season games, so far, opening their summer programme with a 1-1 draw at Stratford Town, before sharing a goalless draw at home to AFC Wimbledon last weekend.
Danny Bloor: “We’ve got a few little injuries in the camp at the moment, so we’ll have to review that situation.
“We could see signs of where we’re going on Tuesday night, there were a lot of positives.
“Woking will do very well this season, they’re expected to be in and around it at the top. They’re a good footballing side, so it’s another good test.”
Tickets for the friendly against Woking are available to purchase online in advance and will also be available for cash and card at the turnstiles on the evening of the match priced £15 adults, £10 concessions and students and £5 U16s, while U11s go free with an accompanying adult.
Turnstiles will open at 12.30pm with the Wings Bar and upstairs bar open for all supporters. (Please note that the marquee bar will not be serving, although fans are able to use the marquee as a seating area.)
Hot food will be available from the food outlet on the right-hand side as you enter the ground, while the Travis Perkins bar will be open for teas, coffees, cold drinks, snacks and pies.
There will be no matchday programme available on Saturday afternoon, but teamsheets will be available from the club shop from around 2.15pm.
