Welling United are pleased to confirm the appointment of Simon Beard as U23 Assistant Manager.
Beard has been working with the club’s academy scholars for the last 18 months as Senior Scholars Coach and will now assist development squad boss Reece Parara in helping to progress the club’s youngsters following a successful inaugural season last term.
As well as coaching within the Wings academy, Beard had most recently spent time as First-Team Coach at Sheppey United, as well as assisting with their U18s and U23s.
During his playing days, Beard came through the youth system at West Ham United before representing Dover Athletic, Margate and Sittingbourne, as well as enjoying a loan spell at Welling.
“Trying to bring about progression and a pathway through for young players is something I enjoy doing,” explained Beard.
“I’ve worked with Reece previously, he did a fantastic job last year and we get on really well. There are some really good youngsters in the group and I can’t wait to get working with them.
“The talent is certainly coming through and seeing some of them get involved in the first team is fantastic. We want to make sure that continues.”
