Welling United are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Jephte Tanga on loan from Leyton Orient.
The 19-year-old is a product of Orient’s youth set-up and made his senior debut for the O’s in an EFL Trophy victory over Southampton U21s in September 2021, before making his league bow as a sub in a 2-2 draw with Colchester United in March 2022.
In recent seasons he has enjoyed loan spells with Sutton Common Rovers and Royston Town before flourishing for Cray Wanderers last term, winning their Young Player of the Year award.
He now joins the Wings ahead of the new season and provides some versatility for Wings boss Danny Bloor with his ability to play in both defence and midfield.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to come here and show what I’m about,” explained Tanga.
“There are plenty of opportunities for you to prove yourself in this league like Dan Nkrumah did last year. I can’t wait to get onto the pitch and show the fans what I’m about.”
Meanwhile, Bloor added: “Jephte has trained with us a couple of times and had a very successful loan spell with Cray Wanderers last season.
His versatility will help the group. A massive thank you to Mike Still at Leyton Orient for making this happen.”
