Welling United and Gosport Borough will go head-to-head again on Wednesday evening as they face-off in an Emirates FA Cup third-round qualifier replay at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium (7.45pm).
Tristan Abrahams’ equaliser deep into injury-time on Saturday ensured that the sides would go round again with the winners set to take on Boreham Wood in the fourth and final qualifying round, one step away from the first round proper.
The Wings will be without Kain Adom, who was sent off in the weekend’s 2-2 draw having put his side ahead with a stylish finish.
Gosport have started their season in impressive fashion, losing just one of their 13 games in all competitions, so far, winning 10 and drawing two.
Their fine form sees them sit top of the Southern League Premier table with 25 points from their 10 league outings.
Their FA Cup campaign began with a 7-2 victory over Laverstock & Ford in the first qualifying round, before earning a meeting with the Wings with a 3-0 home victory over Cribbs in the second qualifying round.
LAST TIME OUT
Saturday’s encounter proved to be a typical cup affair with plenty of drama on show.
With the Wings in control, Kain Adom’s excellent strike put the visitors ahead in the first half, before the game was turned on its head early in the second half with Gosport equalising and then gaining a man advtantage as as Welling were reduced to 10 men following Adom’s second-bookable offence.
Moments later, the hosts took the lead and it looked as if the Wings were heading out until Tristan Abrahams’ cool finish in the seventh minute of injury-time forced a replay.
Tickets for the replay clash against Gosport Borough are available to purchase online in advance and will also be available for cash and card at the turnstiles on the evening of the match priced £15 adults, £10 concessions and students and £5 U16s, while U11s tickets are available for £2.
