Welling United begin their Kent Senior Cup campaign with a second-round trip to Sevenoaks Town on Wednesday evening (7.30pm).

The Wings received a bye into the second round of the competition, while Sevenoaks secured a date with Danny Bloor’s men by beating Herne Bay 3-0 in the first round in September.

The cup clash provide’s Bloor with the opportunity to give vital minutes to those players who have been waiting for starting opportunities of late, while recent defensive signing Nico Jones could receive his debut.

THE OPPOSITION

Sevenoaks ply their trade in the Isthmian South East Division and currently sit in fourth place with seven wins, two draws and four defeats from their 13 games, so far.

They come into the game off the back of a thumping 5-1 victory over Littlehampton Town on Saturday.

CUP HISTORY

The Wings have lifted the Kent Senior Cup on three occasions, with the last success coming in 2009. Their other two final victories came in 1986 and 1999.

Last season saw Welling reach the semi-finals of the competition before being defeated by Chatham Town, who were in turn beaten by Margate on penalties in the final.

Sevenoaks have never won the Kent Senior Cup. They were forced to forfeit their place in the competition last season, pulling out of their first-round tie with Sittingbourne, citing injuries.
