Welling United secured a third consecutive draw as they came from behind to share the spoils with Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
After a mix-up at the back gifted the hosts the lead just before the break, the Wings rallied in the second half and bagged a leveller courtesy of the in-form Kain Adom to ensure a point would head back home to south London.
There was little in the way of chances in the first half, although the visitors did shade proceedings as they enjoyed the majority of possession, without being able to open the Terras up.
Antony Papadopoulos fired over from distance, while Lachlan Byrd saw a header caught by keeper Jared Thompson.
But despite the Wings seemingly having control of the first 45, they shot themselves in the foot on the stroke of half-time in calamitous fashion.
A Weymouth ball over the top should have been easily dealt with, but a communication breakdown resulted in Ben Winterbottom and Jack Burchell colliding on the edge of their box. With the pair floored, it gave Ben Thomson the simplest of tasks of rolling the ball into an empty net.
To further compound the situation, Burchell would be forced off following the collision, with Taylor Curran taking his place ahead of the half-time whistle.
The Wings needed something special to break down the Terras and they got exactly that just nine minutes after the restart.
With the ball falling to Adom just outside the box, he did not hesitate in smashing a first-time effort which flew straight into the bottom left-hand corner.
Welling had their tails up and nearly netted a second shortly after when things opened up nicely for Jephte Tanga in the box, but he could only draw a good save from Thompson from a promising position.
The Wings continued to look the more likely as the half wore on with Tristan Abrahams firing over from distance, while Cameron Green’s free-kick from wide right bounced straight through a crowded area clearing the left-hand upright by a matter of inches.
At the other end, Ben Thomson forced Winterbottom into a save from a good position in the box, while sub Mo Subbar sent a shot wide from the edge of the box, but Welling continued to search for the winner late on as Dominic Odusanya’s angled free-kick was tipped wide and Enoch Muwonge’s good-looking shot from 22 yards flew just wide.
That winner, however, would prove to be elusive, but it would prove to be a good point on the road as the Wings now prepare for a trip to Dover Athletic on Tuesday evening.
