Welling United can confirm that Kain Adom has departed the club to join National League club Gateshead.

The 23-year-old joined the Wings in the summer from Hanwell Town following a successful trial and went on to impress in his first season at National League South level.

Adom netted nine goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for the Wings and now makes the step up to the top of the non-League pyramid with a move to the Tynesiders.

Speaking following the winger’s departure, Wings boss Danny Bloor said: “We’re bitterly disappointed to lose Kain, but we’ve all seen how he;s developed since he joined us.

“There was a lot of interest from clubs in our league, but he and his father assured us that he would not leave Welling United for a club in this league and they were true to their word.

“When the opportunity arose to go full-time with Gateshead, he decided to take it. It’s a massive life change for him, he’s leaving the area and he’s showing a lot of courage to make this decision.

“We are disappointed to lose him, but we must be very proud of helping to develop him into the player he’s become. We wish him all the very best.”

Everyone at Welling United would like to thank Kain for his time spent with the club and wish him the very best of luck in his future career.
