Following a public meeting hosted by Welling United, Lita Homes and the Welling United Supporters’ Association on Wednesday evening, the club can provide the below update regarding the redevelopment of Park View Road and the previously-proposed temporary relocation for the 2024/25 season:
Welling United can confirm that the club will remain at its Park View Road home while the planning process for the redevelopment of the stadium progresses.
The club had previously announced their intentions to temporarily relocate while the extensive redevelopment process took place with planning now submitted and concerns over the current dilapidating state of the current facilities.
However, the club recognises the importance to supporters of remaining at their home until such time as planning permission has been secured and demolition and construction can begin to take place.
With this in mind, Welling United intend to play their home games during the 2024/25 season at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium, pending an annual ground grading inspection by the National League.
The club are committed to working alongside its tenants Erith & Belvedere Football Club to make any necessary improvements required in order to pass ground grading for the 2024/25 campaign.
Meanwhile, the club hope to be in a position to move forward with the initial redevelopment plans, including a temporary relocation, in time for the 2025/26 season.
The club will continue to communicate with supporters on any updates and progress regarding the redevelopment of Park View Road.
As part of the planning permission process, fans are encouraged to lend their support to the scheme and play their part towards safeguarding the future of Welling United.
