Welling United’s Easter weekend of action concludes with a trip to Kent neighbours Maidstone United on Easter Monday (3pm).

The Wings kicked off their Bank Holiday weekend with a 1-0 victory over now-relegated Dover Athletic on Good Friday and Rod Stringer will want his side to make one last push to ensure safety as we enter the last five games of the season.

Welling are now seven points above the relegation places and, with just 15 points left up for grabs, another three points will go a long way towards moving a step closer to being able to take a big sigh of relief.

THE OPPOSITION

Maidstone have an eye on completing a memorable season by bouncing straight back to the National League via the play-offs following relegation last term.

An eye-catching FA Cup run saw them reach the fifth round of the competition before finally being seen off by Coventry City and now their full focus will be on a strong finish to the campaign with promotion come May.

They come into Monday’s game off the back of five successive victories which has seen them move up to fourth place with a seven-point cushion on eighth-placed Bath City.

Their last outing on Good Friday saw them win 5-1 at nine-man Eastbourne Borough.

LAST TIME OUT

Welling secured a hard-fought point as they played out a goalless stalemate with Maidstone United at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium back in October.

It proved to be a real battle under the lights with neither side finding the breakthrough in an entertaining Kent derby.
