Welling United head to Havant & Waterlooville on Wednesday evening for what is their last midweek fixture of the season (7.45pm).

The Wings will head to Hampshire hoping for a result that could finally see them secure their National League South safety mathematically.

Indeed, Rod Stringer’s men will be keeping a close eye on results on Tuesday evening to discover the implications which might result in sealing survival with three points come Wednesday.

THE OPPOSITION

Havant & Waterlooville have spent the campaign fighting for their lives at the wrong end of the table.

Following Saturday’s defeat to fellow strugglers Dartford, they find themselves on the verge of relegation with only the possibility of three points on Wednesday evening prolonging their feint hopes of survival.

Last weekend’s home clash with the Darts saw them take the lead before a second-half quickfire double downed the Hawkes, leaving them in 23rd position with 10 wins, six draws and 27 defeats from their 43 games played, so far.

LAST TIME OUT

The Wings came out on top with a 3-2 victory in the reverse fixture back in August.

Alex MacAllister put Welling in front early on before the visitors levelled ahead of the break.

But goals from Lewis White and David Kamara put the hosts into a commanding lead in the second half, prior to a Havant consolation strike late on as the Wings claimed a first victory of the season.
