Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of attacking midfielder Zain Walker as the Wings’ first signing of the summer.

The 22-year old began his career as a youngster at Fulham before making the move to Bristol Rovers at the age of 16.

While with the Pirates, he made his professional debut in an EFL Trophy clash at Exeter City in 2018 before making his league debut in a trip to Doncaster Rovers in League One in September 2020.

Walker went on to make a total of 11 league appearances and 18 in all competitions while at the Memorial Stadium whilst taking on loan spells with King’s Lynn Town and Chippenham Town in 2021.

He joined King’s Lynn in the National League permanently for the 2022/23 season, before joining up with Aldershot Town last summer.

Last season saw him enjoy a pair of successful loan spells with Bishop’s Stortford and he now arrives in DA16 as Rod Stringer begins to build his squad for the 2024/25 campaign.

Speaking after signing for the Wings, Walker said: “I’m very excited. I’ve been speaking to Rod for a while now and I can’t wait to get going for him.

“I just want to enjoy playing football again and help the team go as far as they can.

“I’m about goals, assists and exciting football. I like getting on the ball , turning and driving at players. I’m a team player, as well, so I like doing the hard bits.”
