Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of striker Anointed Chukwu.
The 23-year-old forward has joined the Wings from Isthmian Premier Division side Wingate & Finchley following a successful 2023/24 season which saw him bag 17 goals in 42 league appearances.
6ft 4in frontman Chukwu began his career as a teenager with Salford City, taking in loans with Ramsbottom United and Widnes before moving to Essex with East Thurrock in 2020.
Spells with Romford and Grays Athletic followed, prior to a switch to Cheshunt in 2022. A return to Grays followed, before moving on to Harrow Borough for the back end of the 2022/23 season.
Chukwu then made the move to Wingate & Finchley last summer, making a positive impact as fired his side towards the play-offs, ultimately losing out to winners Enfield in the semi-finals.
Speaking after putting pen to paper at Park View Road, Chukwu said: “It feels amazing, I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“I had a good campaign last year and I’m pleased to make the step up to the National League South to show everyone what I can do and to prove myself at this level.
“I like to run the channels and work extremely hard for the team. I like to press, hold the ball up, score goals and be a real handful.”
Chukwu becomes the Wings’ second signing of the summer following the arrival of Zain Walker.
The 2024/25 early-bird season-ticket deadline has been extended by an extra two days until Sunday, June 2nd to allow supporters a final chance to purchase in person from Park View Road. Click here to find out more.
