Supporters’ Ambassador, Jake Wright, provides an update on some of the latest goings on around Park View Road…
Hello Wings!
We are well into the off season now, and as we’ve seen via socials Rod and his team have been hard at work building their squad for next season. The positivity shown by all has been fantastic and I cannot wait to get started!
As for updates, the ground has taken many improvements over the last few weeks. The fantastic work of volunteers has improved the look of the ground, including the repainting of the programme hut, dugouts, the red crush barriers, the steps / handrails in the stand and much more. It is so important to emphasise that Welling United is nothing without us fans, us volunteers who give everything for our club. It’ll never go unnoticed!
A second big update is the change of the marquee, where new tables and chairs have been installed. This has the aim of increasing the capacity and improving the atmosphere in the bar. If you have been down to PVR for the England games you would have seen how fantastic this has been, and it gives all fans the best possible matchday experience.
Another crucial update is to ensure fans that another food outlet is being looked into and finalised. We are looking every day for the perfect fit for PVR, and once it’s confirmed we will communicate it directly to fans.
Within the community, Welling have been represented in local events i.e. the St Mary’s community Fun day. We have enjoyed talking with the local people expressing our desires and aspirations to grow the club and include the community further in future events.
Also, the operational board has expanded its network to a larger group of individuals who are tirelessly working to improve the stability of the club. Sponsors, business men and women and many more have all been involved contributing major ideas to really maximise the impact we can have on the club, to make the fans feel involved once again in the club we love. The positivity surrounding the club is the best it has been in recent years, and I am hopeful this season will be evident of that!
Just to wrap up, there has also been new Astro turf implanted outside the marquee and the dugouts. This has given PVR a fresh, cleaner look and gives fans and players the best facilities we can offer!
The support over the off season has been fantastic, this season is bound to be successful if we all stick together as a community!
