Welling United return to league action as they head to Meadow Park to take on Boreham Wood on Saturday (3pm).

After four consecutive Saturdays on home turf, the Wings return to away days with a trip to the newly-relegated Wood and will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of last weekend’s FA Cup exit.

Boss Rod Stringer will have to contend with an ever-growing injury list with TJ Bramble and Ben Wells forced off last Saturday, joining Zain Walker, Harvey Walker, Oscar Borg, Daniel Martin, Chiori Johnson and Martell Taylor-Crossdale in the physio’s room.

THE OPPOSITION

Boreham Wood were relegated from the National League last term and will be expecting an immediate bounce back.

But an indifferent start to the campaign prompted the departure of Manager Ross Jenkins last week after just four months in charge with the club acting quickly to re-appoint former boss Luke Garrard, who will return to the Meadow Park dugout for the first time on Saturday.

The Wood currently sit in 10th position in National League South with three wins, three draws and two defeats from their eight games played, so far, but are without a win in their last four league outings.

LAST TIME OUT

The Wings met Boreham Wood in the fourth qualifying round of last season’s FA Cup, bowing out despite a heroic effort.

After losing two key players to injury in the first half in the form of Lewis White and keeper Ben Winterbottom, the Wings gave their National League opponents more than just a fright, only succumbing to an 86th minute Tyrone Marsh goal at Meadow Park.
