Welling United return to action at Park View Road on Saturday as they host Torquay United (3pm).

The Wings will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats for the first time under boss Rod Stringer and recapture the home form which has seen them lose just once in DA16 since early January.

Stringer will have to contend with a myriad of injuries, with as many as five first-teamers paying a visit to the physio room in recent days and weeks.

Martell Taylor-Crossdale will serve his one-match suspension on Saturday, but limped out of Monday night’s defeat at Hemel Hempstead Town regardless, as did Daniel Martin.

Zain Walker and Oscar Borg have also been sidelined, while Harvey Walker remains a long-term absentee.

THE OPPOSITION

After facing the instability of relegation, followed by administration and a points deduction last season, Torquay have come into this season on steadier footing following a takeover by the Bryn Consortium.

Under new boss Paul Wotton, working alongside football advisor Neil Warnock, the Gulls have started the campaign strongly, winning five, drawing one and losing just one of their six games, so far and sit in second position.

Their solitary defeat came on the road in the form of a 1-0 defeat at Farnborough on August 18th and they come into Saturday’s game off the back of a 3-0 home victory over Chippenham Town in midweek.

LAST TIME OUT

The Wings took a giant leap towards survival when they last hosted the Gulls with a 1-0 victory at Park View Road in April.

The visitors found themselves down to 10 men after 22 minutes when Ross Marshall was dismissed for a reckless challenge and Welling took full advantage with Jason Adigun netting the eventual winner before the break.
