Welling United kick-off their Kent Senior Cup campaign as they host Maidstone United in the second round at Park View Road on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

The Wings fell at the first hurdle in the competition last season as they were defeated at Sevenoaks Town, while Maidstone are the current holders having beaten Ebbsfleet United in the final last term.

Welling boss Rod Stringer may use the cup tie as an opportunity to cast his eye over players who are looking to push their way into his starting XI and give vital minutes to those who are making a return from injury with Ben Wells and Zain Walker hoping to make their returns in due course.

After being withdrawn following a clash of heads on Saturday, goalkeeper Rhys Lovett’s availability will be monitored, while young stopper Javarn Pitterson has been nursing his own injury since the start of the season.

THE OPPOSITION

Maidstone are the current holders of the Kent Senior Cup, cementing their position as record-holders for lifting the cup on the most occasions with 19 final victories under their belt.

They currently sit in 15th position in Vanarama National League south and come into the game off the back of eight games unbeaten, most recently earning a 1-0 home victory over Hampton & Richmond Borough on Saturday.
