Welling United return to home comforts in the league as they host Chippenham Town at Park View Road on Saturday (3pm).
After their run of back-to-back victories was halted by Dorking Wanderers last weekend, the Wings bounced back with a Kent Senior Cup victory over Maidstone United in midweek and will be hoping to replicate that performance to get more points on the board against the Bluebirds in Vanarama National League South.
The clash against Chippenham is the first match of what is set to be a busy run of fixtures for Rod Stringer’s men with eight games upcoming in November, five of which will be on home turf.
Welling were boosted by the goalscoring return of Zain Walker in the cup on Tuesday following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, while Ben Wells returned to the bench and Stringer will be relieved to welcome back the pair to boost his squad on Saturday.
However, Rhys Lovett remains a doubt after the goalkeeper was forced off with a head injury last weekend, leaving academy graduate Javarn Pitterson waiting in the wings to potentially make his first league outing of the campaign.
THE OPPOSITION
Just one place and one point separates Chippenham and Welling in the league table, with the Bluebirds sitting in 19th with 15 points having won four, drawn three and lost seven of their 14 games, so far.
They come into the game off the back of two consecutive defeats – a 3-1 reverse at Chesham, before losing 2-0 at home to Hampton & Richmond Borough last weekend.
The Bluebirds will be without the suspended Will Dawes following his dismissal in that midweek defeat at Chesham.
LAST TIME OUT
Welling United were forced to share the spoils with Chippenham Town in a frustrating encounter the last time the sides met in DA16 last October.
Despite enjoying much the better of the action, a number of golden opportunities came and went for the Wings, but they just could not find that killer touch to turn one point into three.
