Welling United kick off 2025 with a trip to Maidstone United on New Year’s Day (3pm).

The Wings will be looking to start the new year with a bang and bounce back following back-to-back defeats over the festive period.

Elliot Long is likely to miss out again as he nurses and ankle injury, while Harvey Walker is also sidelined as he continues his rehabilitation from a broken leg.

THE OPPOSITION

The Stones have hit form in recent months and come into the game in third place in National League South.

They have won 11, drawn nine and lost three of their 23 games, so far, and sit two points off top spot with 43 points under their belt.

George Elokobi’s men are unbeaten in 16 league games, winning each of their last five, most recently enjoying  a 3-1 victory at Tonbridge Angels on Boxing Day.

LAST TIME OUT

Welling United fought for a vital point on the road with a 1-1 draw the last time the sides met at the Gallagher Stadium on Easter Monday back in April.

After weathering a first-half storm and going into the break with a single-goal deficit, the Wings excelled after the restart and deservedly equalised via a fine strike from Jack Munns on his debut.

Meanwhile, the Wings have already met the Stones this season in the Kent Senior Cup in October with Welling claiming a 2-1 victory thanks to the goals of Mitchel Bergkamp and Zain Walker.
