Welling United are supporting the March of the Day II event, raising money for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.

The event has been set up by Stephen Darby and Marcus Stewart, both ex-pro footballers who have been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

This year’s March Of The Day kicks off on Friday, March 21st and will see a 175-mile continuous walk around 19 football grounds, including Park View Road, beginning at Wembley and ending at Portman Road, with the core team taking on the event made up of 13 former footballers, including Stewart, Steph Houghton, Matt Holland, Stuart Barlow, Chris Kirkland, John McGinlay, Simon Haworth, Martin Kelly, Jay Spearing, Filipe Morais and Nathan Clarke. friends and family of Stephen and Marcus plus a number of others whose lives have been impacted by MND.

Welling supporters are encouraged to sign up for the event for just £10 and they can join the walk during whichever stage they wish.

On Saturday, March 22nd, day two of the march, walkers will make their way from Bromley’s  Hayes Lane at around 8am, before heading to New Eltham and and then on to Park View Road, arriving at approximately 9.12am.

Refreshments will be on hand for walkers, before the group continues their journey to The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic as the next stop.

Welling United Supporters Association (WUSA) is one of the stage sponsors, so all walkers signing up via the dedicated link for Wings supporters will wear the club’s name on their backs throughout.
