Welling United hit the road again on Tuesday evening as they make the short trip to the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium to take on Tonbridge Angels (7.45pm).

The Wings will behoping to build on the positivity of the point gained at Chippenham Town on Saturday which lifted them out of the bottom four and they will be looking to gain an important three points in a bid to look up the table.

In terms of team news, Daniel Martin remains a doubt having missed out on the weekend’s trip to Wiltshire, while Josh Redfearn will be available again should he recover from the illness which kept him out at Chippenham.

Meanwhile, Rod Stringer will need to check on the fitness of Gene Kennedy after the midfielder was forced off during the second half at Hardenhuish Park.

THE OPPOSITION

Tonbridge have been enjoying a positive campaign, currently finding themselves in 10th position with 12 wins, 11 draws and 11 defeats under their belt.

They have, however, found wins a little more difficult to come by in recent weeks, with Saturday’s victory over Enfield Town their first in seven having  lost each of their previous three outings prior to that.

LAST TIME OUT

The Wings shared the spoils with the Angels from a 2-2 draw at Park View Road in the reverse fixture back in November.

Welling spurned a two-goal advantage after Alex Lankshear and Josh Redfearn had fired them in front before the break, but the visitors fired back in the second period, eventually levelling from a penalty which saw Garett Kelly dismissed and Welling down to 10 men.

The Wings have enjoyed success at Tonbridge in recent seasons, tasting victory on their last two visits – a 1-0 win in August 2023 thanks to Jack Burchell’s winner, while Ade Azeez scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory on Boxing Day 2022.
