Welling United will be looking to bounce back as they host St Albans City at Park View Road on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

After the disappointment of last weekend’s heavy defeat at Weymouth, Rod Stringer will be expecting a reaction from his side as they return to home turf.

The Wings remain seven points clear of the drop zone and will be hoping for three points to stave off their opponents who sit two places below, nine points worse off.

In terms of team news, Welling will be hoping to welcome back Rhys Lovett from injury between the sticks, while Sam Cornish, TJ Bramble and Chiori Johnson will have their fitness assessed ahead of matchday having missed out with injury in recent weeks.

Harvey Walker, meanwhile, will now be hoping to be involved again after recovering from the broken leg he sustained in pre-season.

THE OPPOSITION

A difficult season has seen St Albans City find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle.

They come into the game in 22nd position with three wins, 12 draws and 13 defeats from their 28 games played, so far.

The Saints’ form has seen them win just once in their last 15 outings in all competitions, drawing each of their last four, and they will be well rested after their game last weekend was postponed.

Their last game saw them share a 1-1 draw with Tonbridge Angels at home on January 28th and they will be without the suspended James Clarridge following his dismissal in the 1-1 draw at Salisbury City on January 25th.

LAST TIME OUT

Welling earned a 1-0 victory at St Albans in the reverse fixture back in October.

Anointed Chukwu’s 15th-minute strike proved to be the difference in Hertfordshire with the Wings putting in an excellent second-half defensive display to earn three deserved point and halting a run of five straight defeats.
