Welling United are pleased to confirm the appointment of Colin Reid as First-Team Coach.
Reid is a UEFA ‘A’ License Coach with vast experience within both grassroots and professional football.
Having began his club coaching career with Leyton Orient’s academy, he spent two spells with Charlton Athletic’s academy, as well as an eight-year stay at West Ham United’s academy, following four years with Tottenham Hotspur.
He has also spent time as Technical Director at Stevenage before joining Bishop’s Stortford as Assistant Manager and First-Team Coach.
Reid’s career has also seen him take up First-Team Coach positions at Macclesfield Town and Maidstone United, prior to a move to Millwall’s academy, while also taking on the role as First-Team Manager for Millwall’s women’s team.
As well as his coaching roles in club football, he has worked as a coach and education tutor for the Football Association and has worked with the Polish Football Federation, Italian Football Federation, La Liga and the Antigua national team.
Speaking following the appointment, Wings boss Rod Stringer said: “Colin is highly qualified with a wealth of experience. I’ve worked with him before at Bishop’s Stortford when we were in the Conference North so I know him inside out.
“He’ll get us well structured and well organised in and out of possession. I’m looking forward to working with him again and, hopefully, he can bring his experience and his know-how to help these players. Hopefully that will start to show on the pitch and turn our fortunes around.”
