Welling United return to Park View Road on Tuesday evening as they host Hemel Hempstead Town in what is a rearranged fixture following its original postponement in January (7.45pm).

The Wings will be hoping for a reaction under the stewardship of Caretaker Manager Brian Statham following the resignation of Rod Stringer on Sunday.

With eight games left to play and an eight point gap to safety to make up, nothing less than three points will be the goal.

In terms of team news, Dan Martin remains a doubt, while Dave Winfield will serve the second match of his suspension.

THE OPPOSITION

After a lightening start to the season which saw them occupy top spot for some of the early part of the season, Hemel Hempstead’s form quickly tailed off, seeing them tumble back into the bottom half of the table, prompting the departure of Manager Bobby Wilkinson in December.

They currently occupy 11th position in Vanarama National League South with 15 wins, eight draws and 15 defeats under their belt and have enjoyed a good return to form under new boss Lee Allinson since the turn of the year.

The Tudors come into Tuesday evening’s match off the back of a 3-0 defeat at league-leaders Worthing – their first defeat in nine outings.

LAST TIME OUT

The Wings fell to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Hemel Hempstead Town in an entertaining reverse fixture back in September.

After going into the break a goal down, Welling regained their footing early in the second half through Anointed Chukwu to get things back on track.

But the then league-leaders responded with three more goals to end all visiting hope, while Gene Kennedy’s late strike proved to be a mere consolation.
