Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of attacking midfielder James Dyer.
21-year-old Dyer arrives at Park View Road following two prolific seasons at Erith Town where he plundered 47 goals in 97 appearances, helping them to promotion to step four in 2024 and winning a host of individual awards including supporters’ and manager’s Player of the Year recognition.
His previous experience has also seen him represent Phoenix Sports and Erith & Belvedere and he now continues his journey up the non-League pyramid by joining the Wings under Lee Martin ahead of 2025/26.
As a youngster, Dyer played for Welling United’s academy and has grown up in close proximity to Park View Road, watching the Wings’ first-team as a supporter in his youth.

Speaking after putting pen to paper in DA16, Dyer said: “Welling is a local club for me, I lived round the corner for 20 years, so to actually be a part of it – a place where I came to watch the first team when I was a little kid – is really exciting.
“I love working hard for the fans, on the ball I love to get forward and create things. I like to be exciting to watch, I want fans to enjoy watching the way I play and I wouldn’t change that no matter what level I play at, so to be at this level now and be able to showcase what I feel I can bring to the team at this level, I’m really excited to do it.”
His new boss Martin added: “I’m delighted to be able to bring in James.
“He’s another one who meets the criteria perfectly in terms of age and comes off the back of a highly successful season.
“He brings a unique dynamic to the squad as a left-footed midfielder with a keen eye for goal, having scored 18 times from midfield last year.
“I am excited to see how he evolves throughout the upcoming season.”
