Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of striker Ruben Shakpoke.
The 21-year old started his career in the Norwich City academy, before being snapped up by Aston Villa at the age of 16, signing as a scholar with the Villans.
A move across the Midlands to West Bromwich Albion followed in 2023 where he represented the Baggies’ U21s for a season before departing last summer.
Last season saw Shakpoke represent Enfield Town in National League South prior to a switch to play-off hopefuls Maidstone United in February, representing the Stones on eight occasions during the run-in.
He now joins Lee Martin’s Wings ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Speaking after putting pen to paper with Welling, Shakpoke said: “The environment, the players – you can tell that the vibe is ‘straight down to business’, so everyone is raring to go.
“The objectives are clear. We want to get this club back to where we belong and the gaffer has made that incredibly clear. He drives the standards.
When asked what supporters can expect too see from him in a Wings shirt this season, Shakpoke made his point clear and concise: “Pace, power, goals. Simple as that.”
Meanwhile, Martin added: “I’m thrilled to have successfully brought Ruben to the club. He’s a promising prospect who has yet to really make his mark in senior football.
“We faced stiff competition from several clubs at higher levels for his signature, so this decision truly reflects his commitment to join us and grow in an environment where he can excel.
“I’m really looking forward to watching his development over the coming year.”
