Welling United’s pre-season programme continues with a trip to Rotherhithe to face Fisher on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

After a positive run out against Tonbridge Angels in midweek, Lee Martin will step up his preparations ahead of the 2025/26 campaign with a clash against the step five side.

THE OPPOSITION

Fisher are the phoenix club of the former Fisher Athletic after they were wound up in 2009.

They ply their trade in the Southern Counties East League Premier Division having lost out in the play-off final to VCD Athletic in May after securing fourth place.

Saturday will be Fisher’s fourth friendly of the summer. Their summer opener resulted in a 5-1 win at Cannons Wood, before securing a 3-2 home victory over Redhill last weekend.

That was followed up with a 3-2 defeat to an Aveley XI in Essex on Monday.

The Wings last visited Fisher’s St Paul’s Sports Ground in September 2022, winning 3-0 in an FA Cup second qualifying round replay.
