Wings supporters will be able to get their first glimpse of Lee Martin’s new-look Welling United side as they head to Tonbridge Angels for a pre-season friendly on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
A busy summer has seen new boss Martin rebuild the squad as Welling look to bounce back following the disappointment of relegation last term and there is plenty of positivity ahead of the Isthmian League Premier Division campaign.
Having returned to pre-season training in recent weeks, a first run out behind closed doors against Rochester City on Saturday gave players a vital first opportunity to get minutes in the legs with a 14-0 victory and the trip to Tonbridge will see Martin’s Wings take to the pitch in front of supporters for the first time this summer.
THE OPPOSITION
Tonbridge Angels are preparing for their seventh consecutive season in National League South following their promotion in 2019.
Following the departure of manager Jay Saunders towards the end of the 2024/25 campaign, former Glebe and Lewes boss Craig Nelson has taken the reins ahead of the new season.
They kicked off their pre-season programme with a 3-2 victory at Margate on Saturday.
