UPDATE: Welling United’s pre-season friendly with Leyton Orient on Wednesday will now take place at Ebbsfleet United’s Kuflink Stadium at the earlier kick-off time of 7pm.

Due to the pitch renovation works which are taking place at Park View Road this summer, concerns have been raised about the current condition of the playing surface ahead of the scheduled friendly on Wednesday evening.

To ensure that the pitch is in the best possible condition in time for the start of the league season for Lee Martin and his newly-assembled squad, the decision has been made to move the fixture to a different venue.

Welling would like to apologise to supporters of both clubs for any inconvenience caused and thank Leyton Orient for their support and understanding.

The club would also like to thank Ebbsfleet for their support in hosting the fixture.

Welling United’s next pre-season runout comes in the form of a clash against League One outfit Leyton Orient at the Kuflink Stadium on Wednesday evening (7pm).

Following Saturday’s 4-3 win at Fisher, Lee Martin will be looking to continue building his squad’s fitness ahead of the 2025/26 league season commencing in August and will once again be using the friendly fixture to get minutes into the legs, while fine-tuning formations and style of play ready for the season ahead.

With O’s boss Richie Wellens bringing his first-team squad, the game will provide a good, stern test for the Wings.

THE OPPOSITION

Orient enjoyed an impressive sixth-placed finish in League One last season as they battled for a place in the Championship, reaching the play-off final before being beaten by Charlton Athletic at Wembley in May.

Having lost some key players since last term, both via loans returning to their parent clubs and the likes of highly-rated Ethan Gaibraith joining Swansea City earlier this month, they have worked on rebuilding their squad ahead of the new season with six signings already secured.

Goalkeeper Killian Cahill has been joined by midfielders Demetri Mitchell, Michael Craig, Idris El Mizouni and Tyreek Bakinson, along with forward Aaron Connolly this summer and could all play a part at Park View Road on Wednesday evening.

TICKETS

Tickets will be available from the turnstiles and online via Ebbsfleet at the following prices:

Adults: £10
Concessions: £5
U11s: Free (when accompanied by paying adult)

With Ebbsfleet hosting the game and providing tickets via their own platform, the club will look at whether it will be logistically possible for season-ticket holders to gain free entry for the fixture and will provide an update as soon as possible on Wednesday.
