Welling United continued their pre-season preparations with a 4-3 friendly victory over Fisher at St Paul’s Sports Ground on Saturday.
An action-packed first half saw plenty of goals, with the sides sharing six between them in the first 45.
After falling behind to an early Chibueze Innocent strike after just three minutes, the Wings struck back, levelling up through Gil Carvalho on 11 minutes when he slotted home following a knock-down from a corner, before John Ufuah netted an eye-catching goal to put the visitors in front – the forward cut in from the left, showing good feet to throw the defence off his scent before firing inside the near post.

Fisher would restore parity just three minutes later, however, thanks to a fine finish from Lorenzo Duncan.
Welling responded well and took control. Greg Cundle nudged the Wings back ahead on 26 minutes with another strike which found itself inside the left near post, while Ruben Shakpoke bagged his second goal in as many games on 33 minutes, lifting a delightful lob over the advancing keeper.

With plenty of changes affecting the flow of the game in the second period, the goals dried up somewhat, although the home side did pull another one back with 14 minutes remaining as Innocent sealed his brace with a header at the far post following a free-kick delivery.
Lee Martin’s men will now prepare for their next pre-season test which comes in the form of a meeting with League One promotion hopefuls Leyton Orient at Park View Road on Wednesday evening.
