Welling United host Aveley in their home season-opener at Park View Road on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
The Wings will be hoping to get their first points on the board following the opening-day defeat at Cheshunt against a side which also suffered relegation from the National League South last term.
In terms of team news, boss Lee Martin will check on the fitness of Luke O’Neill, who was forced off during the second half on Saturday.
THE OPPOSITION
A rollercoaster last few years has seen Aveley win back-to-back promotions to reach the National League South, earning a play-off place in their maiden season in the sixth tier in 2023/24, before being relegated back to the Isthmian Premier in 2024/25.
They shared a draw at home with newly-promoted Brentwood Town in their first game of the season on Friday evening, taking a 60th-minute lead through Oliver Peters’ penalty, before being denied maximum points by an 88th-minute leveller.
LAST TIME OUT
The Wings’ last meetiing with Aveley in DA16 was an opening-day clash last season which saw Welling kick off their campaign with a 1-0 win.
Martell Taylor-Crossdale marked his debut with a spectacular winner midway through the first half which was all that was needed to gain all three points.
