Welling United get back to league action on Saturday as they host Canvey Island at Park View Road (3pm).

After a valiant effort in an FA Cup replay defeat with 10 men against Slough Town in midweek, the Wings can go into Saturday’s clash with plenty of confidence.

Scott Simmons will be available despite his dismissal on Tuesday with his suspension kicking in after seven days.

Lee Martin will have to check on his skipper Jack Paxman, who missed out at Slough through illness, while Luke O’Neill is a doubt as he nurses a knee complaint.

THE OPPOSITION

Canvey Island are still awaiting their first taste of victory this season, currently occupying bottom spot in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

The Essex outfit have picked up one point from their seven games, so far, a 2-2 draw at Dartford, and have lost their other six outings.

They come into the game off the back of a 1-0 defeat at Brentwood Town on September 19th, but will be well rested after a match-free Saturday last weekend.
