Welling United are pleased to confirm the appointment of Paul Barnes as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Barnes, who has a long-standing connection to the game both on and off the pitch, brings a wealth of football and leadership experience to Park View Road. His appointment marks a new chapter in the club’s commitment to building a strong, sustainable, and community-driven future.

In his role, Barnes will oversee all aspects of the club’s operations, from strategic planning and commercial development to football performance and community engagement. Working closely with the board, management team and supporters, he aims to help Welling United grow both on and off the field.

I’ve been around the club helping from a community aspect over the past year,” explained Barnes.

“From discussions with Howard and the board, it’s obvious that the club needs to come up with a more sustainable, strategic model that will help the club push forwards off the pitch.

“We have some great ideas, but there needs to be someone who can be accountable for those ideas and really push them forwards, so I’m really excited to take on the role and help push the club in the right direction.

“We have good people here, but we need a good structure to make sure we get decisions right so we can provide the right environment and infrastructure for the football team to go and perform.”
