Wings boss Warren Feeney is hoping for the Park View Road crowds to keep increasing as he prepares for Saturday’s visit of Oxford City.
The home support in DA16 has gradually been increasing of late, with over 900 in attendance last weekend and Welling’s boss is keen to see the trend continue to help his side climb the table.
“The fans have been brilliant ever since I’ve come in here,” he said.
“It’s great to see the crowds going up, we want them to keep going up. We’re trying to build a football club again, to put it right and to attract people to come and watch and enjoy.
“I know we got beaten last week, but I think people can see that we’re trying to do it the right way.
“It was pleasing to see the amount that turned up to Dulwich on Monday and if we can carry that on into Saturday and the foreseeable future, it will certainly help the boys and the club.”
Meanwhile, after the gruelling Bank Holiday schedule of two games in 48 hours, Feeney looked ahead to Saturday’s meeting with Oxford and insisted that his squad are in good shape for the test.
“You can see it’s a squad game with the changes we made, but we won’t get carried away,” he explained.
“We have a very, very tough game on Saturday, we’ve had a good week of training since so all the focus is on Saturday.”
“Oxford are a good side,” continued Feeney.
“I know Ross [Jenkins], he was a good player in his day and they’re a good footballing side – they’re there on merit and he wants to do it the right way.
But we need to focus on us. We have to worry about us first and foremost – every league game in any division is tough and we need to make sure we’re prepared for it.”
