Welling United’s U18s eased into the third qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup with a 4-0 win over Erith & Belvedere at Park View Road.
A David Kamara brace was added to by goals from Callum Ellington and Oliver Godziemski on a wet and windy night in DA16, but the Wings, who were drawn as the away side on their home turf, embraced the conditions to see themselves through to the next round.
The young Wings got off to a perfect start, taking the led with only four minutes on the clock as Kamara was slipped into the box and the number nine made no mistake in slotting past Toby Waller in the Erith goal.
Just before the half-hour mark, Welling doubled their lead from a set-piece. A free-kick from the right was met by the head of Donald Macaulay, forcing Waller into a save off the underside of the bar and Ellington was on hand to turn it in on the line.
The reds had further chances to extend their lead before the break with Jack Church drawing an outstanding point-blank save from Waller, before Oliver Godziemski was denied one-on-one by the stopper.
Welling wouldn’t have to wait long into the second half for their third which came from the penalty spot on 55 minutes after a foul in the box. Kamara stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way to secure his brace and stretch the lead to three.
The Wings continued to dominate and added a well-deserved fourth with 14 minutes left as Semilore Abodunrin combined brilliantly with Godziemski to turn home from close range.
The victory secures Welling place in the final qualifying round and within touching distance of a place in the first round proper with a home tie against Corinthian Casuals standing in the way in the next round.
