Wings stopper Kai McKenzie-Lyle earned his 10th cap for his country and kept a clean sheet as he helped Guyana progress to the CONCACAF Gold Cup qualification tournament with a 2-0 victory over Bermuda on Saturday evening.
The Golden Jaguars’ victory, coupled with results elsewhere, secured their progress from CONCACAF Nations League Group B and they will now take part in the preliminary tournament for a place in the Gold Cup finals this summer.
McKenzie-Lyle started between the sticks, while his Welling United teammate Sam Cox took his place amongst the substitutes at the Flora Duffy Stadium in Hamilton as Walsall defender Liam Gordon opened the scoring on 51 minutes, before Jeremy Garrett made sure of the points seven minutes later.
Guyana will be back in action at midnight on the morning of Wednesday, March 29th (BST) when they head to the Wildey Turf stadium in Barbados to host Montserrat in their final Nations League fixture.
McKenzie-Lyle will hope to add to his international appearances, while Cox will be aiming to represent his country for the 35th time before heading back to London later this week.
