Chi Ezennolim made it a double as he walked away with both the 2023 Players’ Player of the Year and the fans’ Player of the Year awards on Saturday evening.
The presentations took place following the 3-2 victory over Ebbsfleet United and the left-back proved to be the big winner, claiming the top accolades from both his teammates and supporters.
Goalkeeper Myles Roberts was the first winner to be announced as he picked up the Managers’ Player of the Year prize for his outstanding performances between the sticks this term, leading to him being recalled by his parent club Watford for first-team involvement earlier this month.
Then, Ezennolim picked up his award for Players’ Player of the Year from skipper James Dunne following a vote by his peers, before the awards were dished out for the prize as voted for by Wings supporters.
Taylor Maloney came in third place, while Roberts finished second and it was Ezennolim who completed a double by being named as the fans’ choice in first place.
After picking up his trophies, Ezennolim told WingsTV: “It feels good! It feels good to get the recognition from the fans and the players as well, so I’m just happy, especially to top it off by beating the top of the league.
“Being recognised for the hard work I’ve tried to put out there on the pitch feels good.”
Meanwhile Josh Campopiano was given the Eric Brackstone Volunteer of the Year award for his dedication to the club this season which involves him volunteering in a number of different ways including pitch and ground maintenance, fetching stray balls on matchdays and even officiating a women’s team fixture in an emergency, amongst plenty of other things.
“I’m absolutely over the moon,” explained Josh after picking up his award.
“I just try to help the club out as much as I can and I appreciate all of the support that everyone has given me, from the board, to the fans and everyone, it’s just amazing.
“It’s my local club and I just want to do the best I can.”
Finally, Ade Azeez was presented with the award to recognise his goalscoring this term, with his 16 goals securing him the title of top goalscorer.
The Wings return to Park View Road for one final time this season as they host Hampton & Richmond borough on Tuesday evening.
