Welling United face their penultimate pre-season test of the summer when they head to Beckenham Town on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
With four friendlies down, Danny Bloor has used them to carefully build his side’s readiness for the big kick-off and the trip to Truro City on August 5th and the clash at Eden Park Avenue will allow him to get closer to finalising his plans for opening day.
More players will get 90 minutes under their belt, although Bloor will keep a close eye on some of the injury knocks that have affected the likes of Crossley Lema, Mitchell Dickenson, Taylor Curran, Dominic Odusanya and James Vaughan out of action in recent weeks, while youngster Enoch Muwonge has also picked up a minor complaint.
THE OPPOSITION
Beckenham enjoyed another successful season in 2022/23 following promotion from the Combined Counties League.
A fourth-place finish in the Isthmian South East Division secured a play-off place which ultimately ended in defeat to Whitehawk in the semi-finals.
Becks have enjoyed a pair of wins over Horsham YMCA (3-1) and Rochester United (4-1) during their pre-season campaign, so far, with a 2-1 home defeat to Cray Wanderers sandwiched in between.
