Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of midfielder Sam Cornish.

The 22-year old has impressed during a trial period throughout the Wings’ pre-season campaign and now becomes Rod Stringer’s latest signing ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season.

Cornish came through the academy at Colchester United and embarked on loan spells at Maldon & Tiptree and Potters Bar Town whilst with the U’s, before joining Wingate & Finchley permanently in 2022.

An eye-catching season with Wingate saw him crowned as their Player of the Year, attracting Hashtag United’s interest last summer. Cornish would become a key part in the Tags’ promotion-winning season last term and he now makes a further step up to National League South with the Wings.
