Welling United booked their place in the quarter-finals of the London Senior Cup with a 2-1 victory over Bromley at Park View Road on Tuesday evening.

After falling behind to a Danai Hassain goal before the 20-minute mark, the Wings hit back through Jack Burchell’s strike before half-time, while Martell Taylor-Crossdale’s penalty early in the second strike proved to be the difference.

It proved to be a competitive tie against a youthful Ravens side – indeed it was the visitors who took the lead with 19 minutes on the clock.

Rhys Lovett made a good initial save from George Evans’ effort, but there was nothing he could do to prevent Hassain putting away the rebound.

The Wings were level five minutes before the break. Finn Ballard-McBride was denied by a brilliant point-blank save from Bromley keeper James Batt, before the ball was worked back to Burchell, who finished nicely into the bottom left-hand corner.

Welling began to take control in the second half and got themselves ahead on 49 minutes via the penalty spot after the impressive Sahid Kamara was hauled to the ground.

Taylor-Crossdale stepped up and made no mistake, sending the keeper the wrong way to make it 2-1 from 12 yards.

Kamara drew two more excellent saves from Batt, the latter being flicked up onto the crossbar, while Josh Redfearn fired over as the Wings went in search of a third.

But two goals would be enough to ensure their safe passage through to the quarter-finals, where they will meet Brentford B in DA16.
