Welling United return to action with a trip to Chesham United on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

The Wings will travel to Buckinghamshire with a spring in their step following last weekend’s impressive 2-0 victory over league leaders Worthing – a win that keeps their survival hopes alive under caretaker boss Brian Statham.

Welling are currently five points off the safety of 20th position with seven games to play and they will be hoping for a repeat performance to keepe up their battle against the drop.

In terms of team news, Dan Martin remains an injury concern for the Wings.

THE OPPOSITION

After winning promotion to the National League South after lifting the Southern League Premier Division title last season, Chesham have enjoyed a steady first campaign at step two.

They sit in 15th position in the league table 13 wins, 11 draws and 16 defeats from their 40 games played, so far, this term, amassing 50 points.

Chesham have won once in their last five outings following a run of three defeats on the spin and come into the game off the back of a 1-1 draw at Weston super-Mare on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT

10-man Welling United suffered a first home league defeat in seven months as Chesham ran out 3-1 winners when the sides met at Park View Road back in August.

Chesham took a one-goal lead into the break, before Martell Taylor-Crossdale was given his marching orders for a second-bookable offence.

And the newly-promoted away side took full advantage, adding a second a third goal to punctuate a frustrating afternoon, prior to Daniel Martin’s injury-time consolation.
