• Friendly fixture has been moved to Ebbsfleet United’s Kuflink Stadium
• Match will now be an all-ticket fixture with tickets only available online
• Club have enquired about possibility of free entry for season-ticket holders, but have unfortunately been informed that it will not be possible

Welling United’s pre-season friendly with Leyton Orient on Wednesday will now take place at Ebbsfleet United’s Kuflink Stadium at the earlier kick-off time of 7pm.

Due to the pitch renovation works which are taking place at Park View Road this summer, concerns have been raised about the current condition of the playing surface ahead of the scheduled friendly on Wednesday evening.

To ensure that the pitch is in the best possible condition in time for the start of the league season for Lee Martin and his newly-assembled squad, the decision has been made to move the fixture to a different venue.

Welling would like to apologise to supporters of both clubs for any inconvenience caused and thank Leyton Orient for their support and understanding.

The club would also like to thank Ebbsfleet for their support in hosting the fixture.

Wings Chairman, Howard Prosser said: “We’re disappointed that we have had to make this decision, but it is ultimately the right decision long term.

“We want to give Lee [Martin] the best possible chance to go into the season playing football in the style he wants to implement and the pitch will play a part in that, so we have to ensure it’s looked after in the right way and is completely ready to avoid any damage caused.

“Naturally, it is detrimental to us financially as we were expecting a very healthy crowd, thanks in large part to our friends from east London making the journey over to Park View Road, but we have to do what is right for the bigger picture.

“We expect that the pitch will be in the right condition in time for the friendly against Millwall on Friday, August 1st, and hope that as many fans will be there to support us as possible on that evening to help put us in good stead heading into the new season.”

TICKETING UPDATE

Tickets will only be available via Ebbsfleet United’s online ticketing platform, and will also be available from ticketing windows on the evening of the game at the following prices:

Adults: £10
Concessions: £5
U11s: Free (when accompanied by paying adult)

With Ebbsfleet hosting the game and providing tickets via their own platform, the club have enquired about the possibility of whether it would be logistically possible for season-ticket holders to gain free entry for the fixture.
Unfortunately, we have been informed that this will not be possible. The club would, once again, like to apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused.
